Your liver converts the glycogen into ​glucose so that your body (especially your brain) can get the energy it needs. This process is called homeostasis and ​involves ​so-called counter-regulatory hormones.

  • Fruit juices
  • Drinking yogurts
  • Iced tea
  • Sweet alcoholic drinks

These drinks are a nuclear bomb on your pancreas.Because they are low in fibers, the sugar enters your bloodstream way too fast.Because of this, your pancreas has to work overtime to make enough insulin.

It is, therefore best to NEVER drink these sugar-rich drinks.

#2 Avoid unhealthy carbohydrates

Many people who visit our website think (unfortunately) that avoiding carbs is healthy and good.Of course, your blood sugar will improve enormously if you don’t eat pasta, pizza, and fries……but that does NOT mean ​all carbs are equally unhealthy.

The amount of sugar and carbs in a product don’t mean anything. Fruit can contain a lot of sugar. But because it also contains fiber, it’s a lot healthier than a white bun.After leaving sugary drinks alone, the best thing you can do is to avoid unhealthy carbohydrate sources.

Pasta, bread, rice, potatoes, pizza, and other pastry are particularly unhealthy.

  • You can replace white bread with low carbohydrate bread. But oatmeal is also good
  • You can replace pastry with fruit
  • You can replace pasta ​and rice with beans and/or vegetables
  • You can replace desserts with natural yogurt and cottage cheese, ​or fruit.

#3 Choose healthy vegetables

​As I ​mentioned earlier:

Carbs are not the problem. The problem is Unhealthy carbs.

​The best way to get healthy carbs is to eat healthy vegetables.And to be honest, all vegetables are healthy… except sweet potatoes.Other than that you can pretty much eat everything you want in terms of vegetables. ​But, just because you can eat everything, it doesnot mean that everything is equally healthy.

My favorite vegetables are:

  • Beans
  • Broccoli
  • Cauliflower

These are also the healthiest vegetables you can eat. This is because they are high in fiber, relatively low in carbs, and high in antioxidants. Ideal if you want to prevent and cure type 2 diabetes.

#4 Eat more healthy fats

​Many people ​think that fats are ​unhealthy. ​Fats are also strongly discouraged for type 2 diabetes.But no one has ever developed type 2 diabetes by eating only healthy fats. Research even shows that fats do NOT have a negative effect on your blood sugar level.In fact, if you eat carbs in combination with fats, your blood sugar levels will rise even less rapidly.One of the first things people do in our Diabetes Reversing Method course is to eating more healthy fats. And once they do this, they notice that:

  • They are more satiated
  • The food tastes better

  • 48+ cheese
  • Nuts – spread peanut butter on your bread
  • Whole dairy products (without flavors)

The fatter you can eat, the better.Of course, you must avoid unhealthy sources of fat such as mayonnaise and sunflower oil. When I talk about eating fat, I’m talking about products that occur naturally in nature. And not about products that must be made in a factory.

#5 Choose the right snacks

Personally, I’m not a big snacks’ fan.​That said, I don’t have anything against them either.But the problem with snacks is ​the distinct lack of healthy choices. ​So you inevitably end up with cookies, chips, candy, or any ​other sweet products that don​’t satisfy you…… but do ​bump up your blood sugar. Especially in the evening. And that is, of course, not ​good if you want to prevent high blood sugar levels in the morning.That’s why it’s better to stick to these snacks:

  • Nuts (such as walnuts, cashews, or peanuts)
  • Avocados
  • Vegetables (a piece of cucumber, snack tomatoes or sweet peppers)
  • Fruit
  • Cheese
  • Meat

There has to be a difference

Although the things mentioned above are ​obviously not as tasty as chocolate-chip cookies or ​anything else that makes your blood sugar level rise…… hey will help you to reverse your type 2 diabetes.

Are You Always Thirsty? 9 Early Warning Signs Of Type 2 Diabetes

If you suddenly feel very thirsty and often have to urinate, it might be a sign that you have type 2 diabetes.But how do you know this for sure?In this article, I will give you the 9 most important symptoms of type 2 diabetes so you get a better picture of the consequences of this disease.

​​Always feeling thirsty and ​tired can be ​a sign of type 2 diabetes

​Experiencing ​frequent thirst can be very annoying. ​No matter how much you drink, your thirst is ​never quenched and you just want more.

​Apart from being annoying, ​it can also be dangerous if you happen to have type 2 diabetes without knowing it.

Before I explain what type 2 diabetes is and how you can recognize it, I want to warn you. If you think you are ill, you should always go to your doctor first. There are no exceptions to this.

Before I ​explain ​why type 2 diabetes makes you feel thirsty, I’ll ​tell you a little more about th​e disease ​so that it’s easier for you to understand.

What is type 2 diabetes?

Diabetes is short for diabetes mellitus. It’s a condition that affects hundreds of millions of people all around the world.

There are two forms of diabetes. The first is childhood diabetes, also called type 1 diabetes. The second form is called adult-onset diabetes ​or type 2 diabetes. ​This form is called adult-onset diabetes because previously it only affected older people.

Nowadays we see that more and more young adults are affected by the disease, mainly because they start eating unhealthy food at a very young age.

​Type 1 diabetes is an auto-immune disease, which means you can get it ​at an early age. So there is a big difference between these two types of the “same” disease.

When you eat something rich in carbohydrates or sugars, the sugars are absorbed from your intestines into your bloodstream. The​ blood ​transports them to all the areas of your body ​that need energy, in a process that ​you don’t notice ​at all.

However, in people with diabetes, things go wrong. The process of ​extracting the sugar from ​the blood and ​taking it to ​​the places that need it is less efficient than in healthy people. In such ​cases, too much sugar remains floating in your blood.

Why is this happening? ​With type 2 diabetes, our cells become desensitized to the hormone insulin (insulin resistance).

​The hormone insulin tells your body that all this sugar must quickly be​ taken out of your blood. ​When there’s ​not enough insulin, too much sugar remains in your blood.

In type 1 diabetes, the pancreas no longer produces ​insulin. Th​is is because the organ that makes the hormone is ‘broken.’ People with childhood diabetes must, therefore inject insulin. As a child, they often notice that they are very thirsty, have to pee a lot, and are​ constantly tired.

Can type 2 diabetes be cured?

Where type 1 diabetes develops during childhood and has no known cure, type 2 diabetes can be prevented and cured.

Type 2 diabetes develops because people eat too ​much sugar and unhealthy carbs ​over long periods of time. ​​To prevent or cure the disease it is essential to live a healthy life.

Some people who are ​destined to develop type 2 diabetes are not there yet, but they’re ​well on their way. They have pre-diabetes, which is also dangerous. With this condition, you have a continuously ​rising blood sugar level that can be harmful in the long term.

If you are often very thirsty, you may already be suffering from type 2 diabetes. I​f this is indeed the case, there’s still a lot ​you can do ​to get rid of it. ​Read ​about how to do this here.

  • If you recognize the symptoms, ​it’s essential to take action and see a doctor.

You might think, “Oh, a little more sugar in my blood won’t hurt, will it?” But, unfortunately, ​it’s unwise to think so lightly about it.

​​Too much sugar in your blood will badly damage your body.

Most parts of your body cannot endure ​excessively high blood sugar levels for ​very long.

I am not just talking about your organs, such as your eyes, your heart, and your kidneys but also about every other part of your body that is connected to your cardiovascular system and to your nerves.

You can only prevent this by living a healthier lifestyle and taking ​​the necessary medication.

 

Purpose of this article

Before taking action, ​you will want to know for sure whether or not you do have diabetes. Below, you will find a list of the most common symptoms so you can ‘test’ yourself. Whatever the case may be: ​When in doubt, always consult a doctor.

Symptom #1: ​Thirst

Thirst is one of the most significant symptoms of type 2 diabetes. If you are very thirsty ​for no obvious reason, you will definitely want to exclude ​type 2 diabetes.

Why do you get so thirsty when you have diabetes? Let me explain:

  • Because your body no longer responds well to insulin, your blood sugar level rises to remarkable heights. Your body ​panics and ​wants to get ​reduce this high blood sugar level as quickly as possible.
  • Your kidneys can partly get rid of these sugars through urine. ​But this is NOT how it ​is if you’re healthy. You can have problems with your kidneys if you expose them to too much sugar ​too often. But this is the only solution for now. And because of this, you will urinate a lot.
  • Finally, to re​place your fluids, the body responds by making you thirsty. That’s why you ​start drinking more, and the whole thing starts all over again.

This is the resulting vicious circle:

  • You eat/drink too ​much sugar
  • ​It is not taken out of your blood
  • Your body panics
  • Your kidneys try to filter the sugar ​out of your blood
  • The sugar is excreted through your urine
  • Because of this, you lose fluids
  • You ​get very thirsty (also at night)
  • This makes you drink a lot

Having to urinate often is called polyuria. And that’s also an indication of (severe) type 2 diabetes.

Having to urinate a lot and being extremely​ thirsty ​is not ​usual for most people – ​it usually means that something is wrong.

So be careful if you ​are in this situation.

Symptom #2: Fatigue

You can get very tired if your blood sugar level is consistently too high.

That sounds crazy. After all, you have a lot of sugar available that your body could use for energy. How is it possible that you feel tired and weak?

​Well, if you have diabetes, then ​the exact location of that sugar ​is vitally important.

The fact that there is a lot of sugars in your blood, doesn’t mean that your muscles and brain can use it.

They can only absorb sugar if the signal comes​ via the hormone insulin.

And if you are not sensitive to insulin, the sugars can NOT ​get from your blood to your brain and muscles.

The result is that you always feel weak and tired despite having lots of potential energy in your bloodstream. No matter how much you eat or drink, you’re unable to get the energy you ​need. This is often accompanied by a lot of headaches and dizziness.

Symptom #3: Dehydration

​All the drinking and urinating ​will eventually drive you crazy.

And another indication that you have diabetes is that ​your mucous membranes will start drying out, leaving you with a dry mouth and eyes, for example.

Thus, being thirsty, having a dry mouth, and having to urinate a lot are all connected.

Symptom #4: Frequently hungry

​When your muscles and brain don’t get enough energy, you will ​feel exhausted. But on top of that, you will also feel hungry. You can eat whatever you want, but you ​won’t feel ​full.

This is because your body ​isn’t getting what it needs. The energy-giving sugars remain in your blood, unable to ​reach the ​organs that are crying out for them.

This will make you eat more and more…

…but, unfortunately, ​eating will not help at all.

Symptom #7: Bladder infections

Do you know who ​the biggest sugar lovers are? Fungi and yeasts.

If you assume that it’s something other than diabetes, you can live with type 2 diabetes for years without really knowing it.

But if you ​diagnose yourself as having diabetes without knowing for sure, you may overlook one of the following possible causes:

  • Side effects of medication
  • Problems with your kidneys
  • Pregnancy (if you are a woman, of course.)

In all cases, it’s vital ​to ​identify the exact cause of the glucose in your urine. This ​can only be ​done ​properly by a doctor. And until the doctor confirms that you do indeed have diabetes, increased glucose in your urine ​is not conclusive ​​proof.

Having said that… let’s continue:

Assuming you have previously been diagnosed with diabetes and found out that there is more glucose in your urine than you hoped for, then this was caused by ​blood sugar being too high. Now, the question is: why is your blood sugar level higher than expected?

Cause #1: You eat too many fast sugars

Think of products such as:

  • Soft drinks
  • Fruit juices
  • Pasta
  • Candy
  • Sugar-rich ‘low fat’ (or 0% fat) dairy products

All these foods ​cause your blood sugar to rise quickly. If you have diabetes, your body is unable to make enough insulin (or ​is not sensitive enough to the insulin it does make) to absorb all ​that glucose.

The result is ​the glucose remains in your bloodstream and eventually gets excreted. But, in the meantime, it has already caused a lot of damage to your body. And it might, therefore, be too late to ​repair it.

You do not want to eat too much of these products

It is possible that the types of sugar you eat are ​absorbed more slowly than so-called fast sugars; nevertheless, they are still extremely harmful ​to your body. Think of products such as:

  • Pasta
  • Bread
  • Potatoes (even sweet potatoes)
  • Rice
  • Sugar-rich fruits (bananas)
​Eating bananas ​all day​ will have some very unpleasant consequences ​on your blood sugar levels. ​And I haven’t even started ​on the pasta and bread, which are even worse.

Cause #2: You skip vegetables

Vegetables are magical products. They are so healthy that they are the only food group that scientists don​’t fight over. Because just about every piece of research shows that vegetables make you healthier.This is because they are full of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, which you may not find anywhere else. (and certainly not in cookies and chips)

Also, vegetables are especially useful for you if you have diabetes. They are full of fiber, which ensures that the sugar in your stomach ​is broken down and absorbed more slowly.

  • Prednisone and other anti-inflammatory drugs (corticosteroids)
  • Lithium in high doses (used in bipolar disorder)

With ​Prednisone, your body becomes less sensitive to insulin, which results in diabetes-like symptoms. After the ​Prednisone treatment, the symptoms can ​linger, leaving you even worse off.

Lithium is a mineral that occurs naturally in drinking water. In small amounts it is healthy, in large amounts it is a medicine.

For example, it is ​used to treat bipolar disorder because it helps to ​stablize the patient’s mood.

Lithium ​in large doses can have harmful side effects.

​It can ​make the kidneys work less efficiently, causing you to develop diabetes-like symptoms. It also makes you thirsty, which will have you reaching ​for the first ​thing you can ​find to quench your thirst. Unfortunately, ​this ​will ​often be a sugar-rich beverage.

Talk to your doctor if you are taking these medicines or have taken them before and found high sugar levels in your urine. ​A urine-test ​on its own is not ​enough to determine ​whether or not you have diabetes. ​​Other tests are necessary if you want ​to get a definitive answer.

Cause #7: You’re not getting ​enough exercise

As I mentioned ​earlier, three things – ​obesity, fast sugars, and ​doing hardly any exercise – virtually guarantee that you will develop diabetes. And the latter ​of the three should never be underestimated.

The human body is not made to ​remain motionless all day long. After half an hour of sitting, your metabolism has already started ​slowing down.And not moving ​will cause your body ​to retain all the sugars ​you ate.Of course, obesity and little activity are linked. People who are more overweight have less desire to exercise, and people who hardly exercise become overweight.

Fortunately, you don’t have to become a marathon runner to get rid of your excess weight. Doing any sports will guard against getting ​sugars in your urine (or reverse the process). Even ​one short 15-minute walk ​each ​day can make a difference. ​Basically, try ​NOT to sit on your fat behind all day.

Symptom 1: Diabetic foot

How do you know if you’re suffering from this?

  • You feel a painful sensation (whether you are walking or not)
  • You have the feeling that you are walking on cotton
  • You feel as if your feet are on fire (intense tingling)
  • You experience numbness in your toes and feet
  • You experience reduced strength in the feet

Some of these sensations can ​arise from ​other conditions apart from a diabetic foot. These may ​include:

  • Medical complaints (such as a hernia)
  • A medical treatment (an operation or chemo)
  • And normal things like wearing high heels all day

Numbness in your feet can be limited to two toes, your middle toe or your entire foot. This happens because the nerves get damaged.Damage to the nerves in your foot is usually caused by clogging due to ​high blood sugar levels.This can happen if your blood sugar is continuously too high – the condition is known as long-term hyperglycemia. ​The blood vessels in your feet get damaged, preventing blood (and therefore much-needed oxygen) ​from ​reaching the cells of your foot.

How do you recognize ​the numb feeling?

  • It symmetrically affects your foot and lower leg
  • You feel no pressure
  • You don’t notice temperature changes
  • You don’t notice when shoes are too tight
  • ​By chance, you discover a wound on your foot. You didn’t feel it when it occurred, and you can’t feel it now.

When you have symptoms like these, it’s a good idea ​to have regular medical pedicures. Preferably monthly. This will allow your doctor ​to keep an eye on how things are going with your feet and if necessary take measures. Pedicures also ensure that your feet are well looked after in general.Another condition to be aware of is intermittent claudication. ​The initial symptoms ​of this are quite unremarkable. To begin with, your foot and lower leg ​feel somewhat stiff, ​but then suddenly you experience severe muscle pain. Thankfully, if you stay calm, it will stop after a short time. ​Nevertheless, if you find this happening regularly, ​​​you should definitely visit your doctor. The sooner you address it, the better.

Numb feeling due to poor blood circulation

Because the small blood vessels in your feet are clogged, blood ​flow is no longer good. ​Your feet, and often your hands as well, will feel cold.

Because of ​the deteriorating blood circulation:

  • No oxygen ​reaches the tissues
  • Waste ​doesn’t drain away

Skin infections ​can ​occur at any moment. When infected, your foot becomes warm, red, andswollen​, and starts to tingle.

Beware

Almost all problems with a diabetic foot are caused by neuropathy – nerve damage​ caused by ​ poor blood circulation ​in the foot.

Because of the lack of feeling in your foot, you won’t be irritated by that little stone in your shoe, and you won’t ​be aware that your new shoes have been rubbing a deep hole in your heel​. Things like this can ​cause inflammation (more about ​inflammation ​in the next symptom).Lack of feeling can also ​make you start walking badly. You no longer feel how much pressure you’re exerting on your foot. And because the bones in your foot ​are not ​as strong as ​they used to be, they can ​easily ​​become ​compressed.In the worst case scenario, fractures will occur which will cause deformation in your foot. This is also called a Charcot foot.

And to finish it all off, the tissue of your feet can die from lack of oxygen and the ​absence of metabolic byproducts. In ​​a case like this, your foot ​would have to be amputated.Fortunately, a lot has to go wrong before this is necessary.

Symptom 2: Poor healing of wounds

With diabetic feet, neuropathy is the biggest problem. It leaves you with no feeling. If it’s been there for a while, you can only imagine what the consequences will be. The longer ​​a wound goes unattended, ​the bigger the problem gets.

This process is not limited to the feet. It can happen anywhere in the body because the small capillaries are everywhere. The feet are more susceptible to this. But it can also occur in the hands.

Symptom 3: Changing visual acuity

It’s good to ​be aware of the difference because when your blood sugar is low you will also feel weak and tired and having ​something to eat or drink​ will help.

When light enters your eyes, it ends up on your retina. This is a tiny area of your eye which ​we can think of as a canvas.​Our brains ​translate ​the light that falls onto the canvas​ ​as an image.

Your retina needs continuous blood flow. The capillaries of the retina can bleed easily, for example ​when they become clogged with sugar. These small wounds change into scars.

This is also called diabetic retinopathy. ​​Scars that form on the edges of the canvas ​​have hardly any effect on your vision​. ​ But ​those that appear in the center ​can ​have catastrophic ​consequences.When there is a wound in the middle of the canvas, then the macula of your retina is affected, ​​resulting in a very noticeable deterioration in your vision​. ​If ​this ​vital piece of the canvas is badly ‘​​damaged,’ ​your brain ​can’t make a good impression of all that light coming in.

  • Because the center of your retina is so sensitive, even a small scar can lead to a large loss of vision. That’s why it is so important to prevent diabetes, or if you already have it, to reverse it.
